Yu Shu Lien has been in exile since the events of the first movie. However, she is forced out of exile when a new threat emerges to take control of the powerful sword from the first movie. There are similar themes to the first movie about redemption, vengeance and denied love.

I felt it wasn't really something new, more a continuation of the first movie's storyline. It didn't look quite as polished as the first movie but it still had some awesome fight sequences, well judged humour and a pretty decent story.
