Review of Crossing Over (2009) by Amin B — 15 Nov 2009
My Harrison is not aging so well.... :( But his acting is beter than ever. The movie started off a little slow. Several stories were intertwined and it took a little while to figure out how they all related. But once that was out of the way the story was really gripping. Being an immigrant myself I was especially impressed at how well the INS offices and the officers were portrayed. I felt transported back in time. Because as an applicant you are nothing - and they let you know it! You better do exactly how they tell you to and say "yes M'am" and "yes, Sir" or you're out of luck! But once you pass your test and get naturalized you are welcomed with open arms. The office where the Jewish guy had his interview and test looked exactly like the one I took mine.
It also showed the unpleasant sides of illegal immigration and the length to which people will go just to get their greencard. All in all a solid story and solid acting. I was never bored and very intrigued.
