Review of Cross of Iron (1977) by Ian R — 11 Aug 2007
An unusual view of life on the German side on the Russian front in WW2. James Coburn's war weary sergeant Steiner is trying to keep his men alive in a situation that is getting out of control due to the enemy, indifferent officers and betrayals.
An interesting group of characters experience hope, fear, ambition, cynicism and madness.
