Review of Crimson Tide (1995) by Greg T — 27 Mar 2010
Everything about this film works perfectly - the taut, clautrophobic plotting, the performances (Hackman grizzled veteran, Washington sweating Dudley Do-Right), Zimmer's military-infused music and the submarine itself - a creaking, enormously powerful leviathan ready to unleash hell on the world.
But whether or not it will depends on the person at the helm, and over the course of 110 nerve-shredding minutes "Crimson Tide" takes us to the brink and back more than enough times. A brilliant post Cold War thriller with enough undertones and great lines to keep you coming back.
