Review of Crimson Tide (1995) by Andy S — 22 Sep 2018
What a waste war is. Why can't we just talk things out. Come to agreements, instead of being violent and killing one another? Already love the cast. Hackman, Viggo, and Denzel. Nice setting with the lighting from the thunderstorm and the ambient lights.
I could never do what these men did. Be stuck in a cramp ass submarine for 60 days. I'd lose my mind. This movie has great social commentary on war and politics. Very interesting characters and point of views that they have. You can see that Hunter and the Captain have different opposing views on war.
Interesting to see the inner workings of a submarine, how everyone communicates with everyone in different sectors of the ship. Pretty intense and anxious being aboard a submarine filled with nuclear missiles. Why does James Gandolfini always play the most slimiest characters?
This movie was an interesting take on doing what's right and doing what's wrong. The captain, funny enough, with all the experience he has and being older let his emotions get the best of him. Hunter stayed focused and followed protocol. Its interesting to see that because of the mutiny that happened on the submarine, rules changed and as a result, now only the president of the US can make the nuclear missiles go boom.
War movies will always be relevant and relatable because war will always exist.
