I've been interested in this movie ever since the first trailer dropped and I was not at all dissapointed by this movie! The story is set in the 19th century and follows Edith, a woman who, as a child, lost her mother to cholera and has seen her ghost.

The ghost of her mother had warned about a place called Crimson Peak and that she must never go there. Of course, at the time she was a just a child and she had not known what any of that meant. Now, 14 years later, she is a writer and she meets a seemingly wonderful man, Thomas, who is an inventor.

Thomas lives with his sister, Lucille, in London in a very old and ruined house. Then some events happen that lead to Edith and Thomas living in that house. What happens next I will not spoil, for this movie is best experienced when you know nothing about the plot.

The movie looks outstanding! Guillermo del Toro really knows how to set the mood. It's very colorful and it's just beautiful to look at! The acting is amazing and the characters are intriguing.

The story is very interesting at first, but when you finish the movie and know its end, it's a bit dissapointing. I wouldn't call this movie a 'style-over-substance' movie, but it's close to being that.

The gore and violence looks amazing and the ending is just insane! It's not a really disturbing movie, but it has its moments. This is a movie that doesn't throw everything in your face and while it does have a few jumpscares, they're not annoying like they tend to be in a lot of new "horror" movies.

Also, this movie isn't just horror. It also has a high quantity of romance, which I found to be quite interesting. All in all, a great gothic horror romance movie with amazing performances, brilliant set designs and terrific direction, and while its story isn't as great, it's still really worth watching and I highly recommend it!
