Review of Crimson Peak (2015) by Kaitlyn J — 03 Mar 2017
I like this take on horror because it is scary and disturbing without giving the viewer a heart attack. I also like how it makes you ponder the sorrows and tragedies of life, both past and present, and the different ways people respond to cruelty, bereavement, and hardship.
It seems to suggest that there is more to life than suffering, cruelty, and violence, but that these things will nevertheless leave their impression on us. There are many motifs and metaphors to explore here, and the cinematography is impressive.
