Review of Crimes and Misdemeanors (1989) by Matthias S — 24 Apr 2010
Woody Allen at his most philosophical. Funny and sad. Uplifting and soul-draining. The film's tag-line was "a film about humanity" and Allen actually accomplishes the feat. He ruminates on love, death, responsibility, art, god and family without ever becoming pretentious.
A masterwork from a master filmmaker.
