Review of Crimes and Misdemeanors (1989) by Ian C — 23 Mar 2017
It plays out ad two separate films. The Martin Landau segment has echoes of Hitchcock all over it. Landau is superb as the cheating philanthropist.
The other storyline sees a typical awkward unlucky in love Allen deliver some quality one-liners in his pursuit of Farrow. As the plot unfolds the director delivers a moving and touching performance.
I'm not too sure, if the meeting of the two story's protagonists worked but everything leading up to the finale is great.
