Review of Cria! (1976) by Andrey B — 19 Apr 2018
A hidden Spanish masterpiece which portrays in a very vivid and shocking manner a child suffering from the loss of her both parents, the fact which she may not yet fully understand but subconsciously feels anyway, and ensuing consequences of this trauma.
The little Ana Torrent and Geraldine Chaplin did excellent jobs. The film is full of haunting scenes and images like the visions of Ana's mother which are extremely real and believable or the scenes under the accompaniment of the famous song.
The soundtrack is melancholic and perfectly suits the film and its story.
