Review of Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954) by Brandon B — 05 Nov 2008
Well, what can I say about this movie? It's a cheesy 50's horror movie with average acting. What you're probably wondering, though, is why it stands out compared to other movies of its era. You wanna know why? Because of the underwater cinematography.
This is the movie with the most memorable underwater scenes with amazing directing and a hell of a creepy atmosphere down there. Not to mention the terrifying scene in which the Creature stalks Kay Lawrence (Julie Adams) as she swims in the water, completely oblivious to anything that may be lurking down there...
The creature himself has my favorite monster costume and this movie brings that costume to life.
