Review of Creature from the Black Lagoon (1954) by Andreas O — 07 Jul 2011
This, I love. With Creature from the Black Lagoon, Universal introduced what is often considered their last great original monster, going against the grain with the aliens & mutants horror trend at the time.
The greatness of this film, however, lies in the fact that Gill Man is not a monster per se, but a wild animal pushed to violence by humans intruding on his territory. With great cinematography and wonderous feats of effects and storytelling, this is one movie worth returning to.
