At the beginning of the movie the caption says that this is story of how the "Origins of the Species" came to be written. It is nothing of the sort. This film can't decide whether it wishes to tell how Darwin came across his theory of evolution or instead how it affected his life especially his relationship with his wife. Finally it decides to be a romance showing how two people love one another despite having fundamentally different opinions about the role of God.
A bit of a disappointment.
