Review of Creation (2009) by Marija D — 29 Mar 2010
Creation is a slow, quiet movie that's well-written but doesn't give the actors room to show off their talents. The subject matter is interesting but the film is too subdued to be truly effective.
Paul Bettany gives a great performance, and when he gets into a shouting match with Jennifer Connelly, the film finds a fire that it lacks elsewhere. I think this is a case similar to last year's gorgeous Bright Star, where the film is too low-key to get much attention, though here, not as much is deserved.
I do, however, love the title; very clever, somewhat controversial choice.
