Review of Corpse Bride (2005) by The Critic ( — 11 Jan 2015
The wonderfully warped imagination of Tim Burton is evident in this aesthetically engaging unconventional love story. Burton regulars Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and Michael Gough are amongst the recognisable names who lend their voices to an assortment of kooky, charming and scary characters.
The musical numbers are also well done but the surrounding material lacks the same level of gusto to keep the story chugging along. Despite the overwhelming positives, 'Corpse Bride' falls short of its potential and leaves its audience feeling short-changed.
