Review of Conviction (2010) by Adam S — 13 Mar 2011
Excellent film. True story of Betty Anne's Waters' lifetime struggle to free her brother Kenny, wrongfully convicted of murder in 1983. Hilary Swank has the lead role with Sam Rockwell playing Kenny. Minnie Driver, Peter Gallagher and Conor Donovan (from Glee) fill out the cast with good performances.
I gave the film high marks for the story and the performances, but thought it missed the mark slightly with a lack of detail in how Betty Waters' lost her marriage, had to start by getting her GED and maintain a relationship with her kids, all in an effort to free her brother.
On the other hand, the movie accurately depicts a sorrowful life where all else is put to the side to achieve the one goal. Swank was excellent as was Driver.
