Review of Conviction (2010) by Andrei G — 02 Apr 2011
Someone describe it as "gripping, fascinating and true"... I'll agree with the third one 100%, first two I'll have to rethink.
In Massachusetts in 1983 Kenny Waters was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. His younger sister Betty Anne, single mother, was convinced he was innocent so she set out on an 18 year quest that involved going back to finish high school, college and getting a law degree and challenging the evidence gathered by the small town police woman who put him away!
Average movie with strong performances by Hilary Swank and Sam Rockwell which is recomended for a DVD...
P.S. On 6 September 2001, Kenneth Waters fell from a 15-foot wall while taking a shortcut to his brother's house after a dinner with his mother. He slipped and fell, dying from injuries related to head trauma, just six months after his release from prison. In 2009 the town of Ayer and its insurers agreed to settle his estate's civil rights lawsuit for $3.4 million. Betty Anne Waters lives in New England. She has continued her work to free individuals wrongfully convicted of crime, as well as to fight for the rights of prison inmates.
