Ever since Family Guy made fun of James Woods, I can't watch this movie without thinking, "Ooo, a piece of candy..." over and over again in my head.... But anyway, it's a pretty awe-inspiring movie.
The take on aliens still didn't satisfy me, but it really makes you think. I liked the whole device they built and what it did. That was intriguing. Didn't feel satisfied with the ending, but I still liked parts of the movie.
I was glad that it made a point of showing how passionate people are about finding alien life, and why it's important to them even if it's not important to all of us. We all have passions that we need to act upon, and this one could be useful to us one day.
The religious portion made me feel very uncomfortable, though.
