Review of Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972) by Marco V — 27 Aug 2011
Conquest of the Planet of the Apes. This is the one that made me a true fan of the franchise. This film is Brilliant. Some people just don't understand this franchise at all... they read the title, imagine the plot in their heads and then think they are too smart to waste their time watching them.
And then imagine my full surprise recognizing that I was one of those people. Conquest is really silly in the outside. It is more powerful than it is weak, and for a sci-fiction film, it has brilliant ideas and really stands out being the most political of them all.
it is also the Best one next to the original. For some, it doesn't make any sense, for others it is too corny, for me... "Conquest" is one of the best social commentaries of America made into Sci-fiction film.
The film is the most ironic of the franchise, people don't get! Roddy McDowell is the APE man! he was born to do these performances. It is Brutal, and Shocking, Epic Surrealism like the first one and really dark, the most violent of the Apes film.
! Brilliant ending and speech. One of my personal favorites.
