Review of Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972) by James R — 10 May 2009
This movie suprised me a bit. I actually enjoyed this one. This one takes place in 1991 and the apes have been used as slaves. They replaced cats and dogs who are extinct and got bigger and bigger.
The movies main message is standing up for rights and what is unfair. There is a good message in this especially the transformation of Caesar the ape that can talk. He starts out very naive, but eventually knows what is wrong and leads the apes to a victory.
The makeup still looks bad especially on the "gorilla" prisoners...they look like a 6 year olds Halloween costume. The story isn't as slow as the others though so it makes up a bit. Still it's quite silly.
Overall, give this one a rent it's somewhat decent. I rated the original a 3 as well but in terms of a classic it definitely still the better movie.
