Review of Confessions of a Superhero (2007) by Autumn S — 05 Jun 2010
Sad but alternately humorous documentary that reveals the human underneath the costume. Morgan Spurlock of "Super Size Me" fame, executive produces this documentary about four aspiring Hollywood actors who pose as superheroes on famed Hollywood boulevard for tips.
Documentary has artsy feel to it by adding touched up images of the four central characters at work in between revealing interviews. Interesting look at the downside of fame as these four go through the motions every day: a small town southern beauty queen turned Wonder Woman; a lanky, obsessive Superman fan living the dream as the character; an African American posing in a ginormous Hulk outfit; and a Batman with some rage issues.
Very interesting and even deglamorizing look at life in L.A.
