Review of Confessions of a Superhero (2007) by Nicklaus H — 18 Jan 2011
I really enjoyed this movie. It's easy to dismiss these folks as delusional, convincing themselves that what they are doing is more than what it really is, but what makes the film meaningful is that we all do this to some extent in our lives.
We may not do it to the same extent, but we all create stories where WE are the hero of the story. On another level, it's just fun to get to stare unflinchingly at crazy people. Usually in life, when we see or even meet a person that is clearly a bit nuts, we often find a way to avoid them, or limit how much we will interact with them, but this documentary let's us keep watching, not turn away.
.. It's a sad story, but it also has lots of moments that are easy to laugh at.
