Wow. it's hard not to watch this film and feel vastly superior to these people. I think it's because I feel like I know them... and I fear I would become one of them were I to set off to Hollywood.
Margot Kidder makes a comment in the movie, though, that really makes me look at them with a bit more kindness. She says "Really, I can think of a lot worse things for people to do".
Very true.
