Review of Collateral Damage (2002) by Marcus1138 . — 19 Apr 2008
"When were you going to kill me?".
........................................................
This movie reeks of being adequate. It's an adequate thriller, with an adequate story, with adequatly gives Arnie the chance to do a modern anti terrorist thriller. The biggest problem is, it's just adequate.
It has the "proof of life"'s about it. It a nice popcorny story getting it's issues across in an entertaining fashion and it's totally watchable. It's just not very good. And it's mainly because Arnie is in it.
Don't get me wrong. Arnie is a legend. But when you have Arnie and some terrorist's who's killed his family and him sneaking into Columbia seeking revenge....well lets just say this ain't the outcome I wanna see.
I don't need meaningful messages and "how far is too far?" questions raised. I want Arnie snapping necks, blowing shit up and getting nothing but audience satifying revenge. Hell we're automaticaly on Arnie's side anyway's who care's what he does.
All in all this just remains too controlled to be loved. It's totally watchable, there's hints at the old Arnie in there (especially the end) and it fits snuggly into those throw away Thrillers of the last 10 years of so.
It's by no means Arnis worst movie, but it's a universe away from his best.
