Review of Collateral (2004) by Nicola D — 14 Aug 2012
Max: "You killed him?".
Vincent: "No, I shot him." "Bullets and the fall killed him.".
An Instant Classic. Underrated. Compelling. Gritty.
Collateral.
Collateral is a film that I really didn't have high expectation for, I just heard it was great and, the trailers got me interested, but after watching Collateral, I'm really happy that I finally saw it.
I'll start off by saying that the cinematography of Miami in this film is beautiful and I wasn't really expecting that from this film. Everything about this film works, the action, the dialogue, and the suspense, EVERYTHING WORKS! This is arguably the best performance I have ever seen by Tom Cruise because he was so belivable as the villain and, I could see how much dedication his character (Vincent) had for his living (killing people). Also, Jamie Foxx was great in this film and I was really surprised on how great his performance was. The main thing I love about this movie is that sometimes, I was rooting for the villain, and the last time I was ever rooting for the villain, was when I was rooting for the Joker in, "The Dark Knight." Michael Mann continues to surprise me and, I am definitely interested in his other films.
