Review of Cold in July (2014) by John W — 28 Jun 2014
I had high hopes for this film. It's brilliantly shot. The acting is top notch. The score is interesting. The beginning is fantastically tense, as Richard Dane kills an intruder and then has to come to terms with it.
He's made to feel bad for struggling by the cops and his wife. On top of that, Dane's family, his son in particular, is being targeted by the dad of the man whom Richard (supposedly) shot. However, as the plot starts to zig instead of zag, lots more questions are raised that go unanswered.
Loose threads in a film are very annoying.
