Review of Code 46 (2003) by Brandon S — 02 Aug 2004
If I could I would rate this movie in parts. Part I and Part II:
Part I:the first 45 minutes of the film 8/10.
Part II:the last 45 minutes of the film 5/10.
Code 46 is a fairly new "Sci-Fi" movie I just finished. It's one of those films that is a little hard to discuss without giving anything away so remaining as generic as possible, The first half is pretty cool. You have no idea what is going on when the film opens much of the details of everyday life in this 'future' are not introduced to the viewer, you have to kind of figure it out for yourself. I thought this was a very cool technique. It made you feel like you were totally outside their world, but at the same time totally a part of it. Like you could relate even though you had no clue what they were saying at first. It becomes clear fairly soon though and the next 45 minutes of this 90 minute film are very intruiging. Unfortunately the last half or maybe third of the film seems like the director or writer lost their train of thought and had to quickly wrap it up so he or she looked at the latest enquirer for climax :P. This is like a good Sci-fi book with a bad ending. I would recommend watching the first 45 minutes and then turn it off and email me, I will tell you how it ends in 4 sentences or less :).
