Review of Cloverfield (2008) by Andrei E — 23 Feb 2013

This film was a new take on the monster movie, but I was bewildered at its name, "Cloverfield." It didn't strike me as threatening or anything monstrous, but the film itself was a thrill ride.

The characters were fun and identifiable, the acting was believable, the monster was threatening in its hugeness... but the first fifth of the movie was rather boring, since all it had were people talking and going places. If you're willing to sit through that, though, you're in for a treat.
