Review of Cloverfield (2008) by Daniel S — 07 Apr 2013

This is year has been really good for movies so far and this was no exception. Really good fun and there are plenty of "jump" moments in it. There are also a lot of references to 9/11, as you might expect.

Things like clouds of smoke coming down the street from collapsed buildings held a particular resonance to a lot of the footage that was shown on the news at the time. That said, it is a smart, slick and well paced action/disaster movie.

Everyone involved should be thoroughly proud of themselves, not ashamed. (Anyone who listens to Kermode will know what I mean)! Enjoy!!!
