Gritty, sharp and very real; Spike Lee serves up a crime drama that more subtly deals with social issues that some of his other films tend to beat the viewer over the head with. At times Clockers is slightly heavyhanded, but that is simply Spike Lee's style; however viewers who may have been unable to stomach some of his other works, i.
E. Do the Right Thing, shouldn't be discouraged from giving this film a try. There is great depth here, and the script and character development are superb. Acting, direction, lighting are on spot as well.
One of Lee's best.
