Review of Clockers (1995) by Matty R — 12 Dec 2004
Spike Lees Clockers is as good as it gets. This is by far his best work and not only had a great veteren cast but introduced a superb Mekhi Phiefer to the movie-going public. I was a fan of the Richard Price novel it is based on and was blown away by how well it was adapted and how visually good it looked.
I recommend this extremly well acted tale of two brothers who come to find out they aren't as different as they think they are when they get caught up in an inner-city murder investigation. The cast is anchored by the always good Harvey Kietel, John Tuturro, Delroy Lindo, Kieth David & Isiah Washington, who all bring their best work to the table.
This is my favorite movie of all time and probably one of the best movies of the 1990's.
