Review of Clean, Shaven (1995) by Mike H — 30 Nov 2008
Hey, remember the bad guy from "The Mask" and "Blue Streak"? What about one of the bad cops who got shot in "Training Day"? Remember now? OK, good. His name is Peter Greene, and if you ever thought he played the same role over and over, see this movie.
"Clean, Shaven" is one of the most complex, disturbing, and well done films I have seen in a while. The usage of sound and image in this film is of a high level, with some very cringe-worthy scenes.
I might need to see it again just to make sense of it all, but that's what movies are for, right? Despite some slight confusion of little details, this is a fantastic (and fantastically overlooked) character study.
