Review of Clean, Shaven (1995) by Paul P — 14 Sep 2009
In the same league as Henry: Portrait of a serial killer, this film is more of a opposite. Instead of it being about a killer it's about a schizophrenic man who is searching for his daughter and who may or may not have killed a little girl.
Just as real and disturbing as Henry, this film uses abstract sounds, mostly negative thoughts, as a way to put you in the mind of this man. It's deeply disturbing stuff and hard to watch, specifically the scene where he removes one of his own fingernails.
Peter Greene does a remarkable job and Lodge Kerrigan's direction is well done.
