Review of City of Life and Death (2009) by Louise G — 22 May 2010
A brutal depiction of the horrible Nanjing Incident. What is amazing of this Chinese produced film is that it humanizes a Japanese soldier who was part of this. Shot in black and white with an incredible re-creation of historical Nanjing, they do use actual historical characters who were witnesses to the events there with Minnie Vautrin and John Rabe among others.
