Review of City of God (2002) by Justin R — 29 Apr 2011
If I said it took a movie to semi-alter my perception on life I'd sound naive, after all, it is a movie. But City of God is more than a movie-it's a lesson to all those living in 1st world countries about the dangerous lives of those less fortunate than us.
The slums of Rio de Janiero are just one paradigm of the types of misfortune that much of the world's populace has to experience. As a movie, City of God is a masterpiece-the acting is great, as is the directing.
The story is told in a manner that keeps the viewer attached and craving for the next story. In terms of the fact that it is a foreign, it has clearly been the best foreign movie I have seen in my life to date, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good movie.
