Review of City of God (2002) by Hardy H — 25 Dec 2014
The Best Film Of 2002. Next to The Godfather films and Goodfellas, this is the most exhilarating and exciting crime film I have ever seen. Also the best foreign movie of all time in my opinion. And no, I aint bias towards it because it's a Brasilian film.
Fernando Meirelles direction makes the movie exciting and entertaining as hell, and every single scene is an example of absolutley perfect filmmaking. Disturbing and a bit haunting, this movie based on real events follows a photographer names Rocket as he tells us the story about life in the slums of Rio De Janeiro; as well as the gangs that populate the city.
The best film of the decade.
