Review of City Island (2009) by Yogi S — 24 Jul 2010
A nice drama with pinch of comedy about a dysfunctional family of distinct, even bizarre to some extent, individuals. In the end the plot/storyline seems familiar and feels like heard/seen before... however, cleverly written screenplay and direction gives it it's own touch.
Aided with great performances from Andy Garcia, Julianna Margulies and Steven Strait makes it a good watch. Emily Mortimer is great as always and Garcia's daughter, Dominik succeeds in creating her own impression.
Definitely recommended.
