Review of City Island (2009) by Seth Y — 22 Feb 2013
"City Island" is a real hidden gem. Andy Garcia stars as a Bronx prison guard and head of a majorly dysfunctional family. When he's not working, he is taking an acting class secretly. Meanwhile, his wife thinks he is having an affair, but really he is just embarrassed to tell her about his acting ambitions.
Combine that with a variety of other problems within the household, and you have this really well-made dark comedy film. The cast all works together well, and as always Andy Garcia is fantastic. There are some truly hilarious moments in this movie, and it's really a great watch.
