Review of City Island (2009) by Michel L — 04 Sep 2010
A so-so excursion into the lives of Andy Garcia's frustrated actor and his dysfunctional family that spends much of its time setting up its characters' development, ultimately to little effect.
Determined to be 'kooky' and 'quirky', its threadbare plot and hammy acting do little to endear us to the family so that when each person's secrets are finally revealed, we have given up caring (at least I did).
Pointless and frustrating and only worth watching for Garcia's epic scenery-chewing as the Brando-obsessed father.
