A serious comic misfire, this must have been a bit funny when it came out, but holds no water now. There is no inspired lunacy or even simple, effective slapstick. Even Jerry Lewis (to whom Jim Carrey has been compared) does little to tickle the funny bone.
Instead, we have an overbearing, over-boring take-off of the Cinderella story. Don't bother.
