Review of Cinderfella (1960) by Kenneth E — 28 Dec 2014
Frank Tashlin directed this lively Jerry Lewis vehicle where Jerry plays the ritual Cinderella who is ill treated by his wicked step-mother and step brothers until his Fairy Godfather, Ed Wynn, magically appears to help him out.
The film is colorful and visually arresting, but there are some slow draggy parts and the musical numbers are a bit dull, but there are enough clever bits to make this worth watching for fans of Jerry.
Henry Silva plays one of the step-brothers and Anna Maria Alberghetti plays Princess Charming. Count Basie and his Orchestra also show up as the musicians at the ball.
