Review of Cinderella (2013) by Alvin Y — 18 Jul 2015
I'm glad that this Cinderella story is as same as the ones we all knew and loved ever since we were a child. We've seen movie versions of this story, an animated in the 50s, a live action film in the 90s, and now we have probably the same as usual old fashioned story of Cinderella.
Director Kenneth Branagh uses his Shakespearean director style and tone for this flick and to me I think it works, but I think this version would've had some more story and more depth as to say seeing and knowing more of Cinderella, her step family, the royal family, right? The actress who play Cinderella here is as lovely as she was, she's gonna have more movies in the future but this is surely for her to be remembered.
I think when we got to the last 30 minutes of the movie, things start to roll over, Branagh slip sides and changed a bit of the tale that me wondering would it still matter and would it had something new, then the movie ends with the same Happily Ever After closing and The End.
But despite for all of that, I think this is a pretty good recommendation to watch for the whole family especially with kids. And I think it's still an OK for me, but please can we have sometime in the future a very very different Cinderella story, I know there's been some made but surely this time, make it, remember that film with Kristen Stewart as Snow White, maybe a like that, in other words: A Bad-ass Cinderella, could it be?
