Review of Chrysalis (2007) by David L — 02 Mar 2010
Stylish, modern, cold, and unaffectionate. It is difficult for the audience to be involved in the depressing, stone-cold atmosphere and rigid acting.
Although the film is well-produced and packaged, the film is otherwise rather uninteresting outside of some inventive visuals and shots. The two story plot lines are kept at a distance for too long, the lack of emotions from every single character, dragged out hand-to-hand combat... there are many problems, but the biggest issue here is still the lack of heart. I hope this ultra-modern, emotionless tone does not catch on.
