Review of Chrysalis (2007) by Paul R — 09 Feb 2010
Chrysalis was so unremarkable and with a story so bland I had totally forgotten I had watched it until I was chatting with Lucky Pierre about films. Chrysalis is the French Sci-Fi thats bleak plot summary promises to be the Minority report with more thrills and guts, but it doesn't deliver.
The plot seemed odd and forced to link together, this - combined with the dull and colourless style of the film made it just seem overall a very diluted and dreary film. In it's favour - there were a few nice set pieces, a couple of nice camera fly by's and some impressive fight scenes (which isn't surprising as it had the same stunt coordinator as The Bourne Identity) but although good, they just looked like slowed down versions of Bourne.
These positives however were not enough to redeem the film. Chrysalis, like it's definition: The grey casing of an undeveloped butterfly.
