Review of Choke (1971) by Brad P — 04 Jun 2009

I haven't read the book this is based on but my wife says it's excellent; it's written by Chuck Palahniuk, the author of "Fight Club". This movie, however, was a major disappointment.

Sam Rockwell plays an excruciatingly unlikeable sex addict who tries to come to terms with the relationship he has with his mother, an even-more-unlikeable con artist played by Anjelica Houston. There are bits of humor, but they are too few and far between as the movie rambles toward its ultimately unsatisfying conclusion.
