Review of Choke (1971) by Anna S — 06 Dec 2009
Firstly, let me point out I have not read the novel written by Chuck Palahniuk's in which this film is based on. I found choke a slow, medicore insight into sexual appetite and intimacy issues. Anjelica Husten is fantastic as the dimented mother who has impacted Sam Rockwells character's ability to form a relationship with women based on anything other than sexual gratification.
The movie had a few depressingly funny moments, but by half way through I found myself with little concern for Rockwells character and his scrambling to understand himself and his past. The ending I felt left a lot to be desired from this movie, however its always nice to hear Thom Yorke's voice as the credits roll.
