Meandering murder mystery, psychological chills and doomed lovers collide in Roman Polanski's neo-noir classic.
Jack Nicholson is terrific as gutsy gumshoe Jake Gittes; the role which arguably cemented the actor as a Hollywood frontman of choice back in the early 70s, and Robert Towne's sexually-charged screenplay is impeccable in terms of both scope and fluidity. Beautifully nuanced and immaculately played, Polanski's film deserves a place in every cinephiles private collection.
