Review of Chinatown (1974) by Brad S — 08 Mar 2015
Chinatown gives us the story of Mr.Gittes, a private investigator, who is hired to follow an unfaithful husband, but finds himself in the middle of a murder investigation.
Chinatown is highly reviewed and loved by many. Certainly the script is excellent and there are more plot twists than you might care to imagine. Ultimately, however, the movie rises and falls with the performance of Jack Nicholson. Without Nicholson as the gritty Mr. Gittes it is quite likely that this movie would be entirely forgettable - nothing more than an early episode of Murder She Wrote. This is a good movie with an excellent acting performance.
