Review of Chinatown (1974) by Hunter B — 03 Jan 2015
An interesting and dark mystery. Chinatown is carried by Jack Nicholson's excellent lead performance as Private Investigator Jacob Gittes as his investigation into the affair of a Water Department head quickly spirals into something much deeper and darker.
From beginning to end, there is a sense of bitter cynicism that helps to carry the film right to it's stomach-dropping climax. If you want a good mystery, or just a good movie, Chinatown is well worth your time.
