Very clever intro: gets you hooked and thinking right away.

The story is very intriguing (reminds me a little of Wall·E) although I don't know if I totally agree with the dystopian outlook. Ever since I read Huxley's "Brave New World" it's been harder to accept the other ideas...

But I guess like any other successful dystopian depiction also this one has a lot to say about the world today. The religious devotion in the grim times is though an interesting idea.

Michael Caine plays great and works perhaps even better in his role.

And at around 1:18:46 is the same Lenin portrait (metal) that we have at home! Wow...

And the characters like Caine's, Marichka etc...Wonderful and memorable!

SPOILER ALERT!

The "Seize Fire"-moment sure is powerful but isn't entirely believable since the kid and fertile mother obviously is the closest to a saviour of mankind. Someone surly would've kept them under close watch.

I realise that they try and cover it up by the fact that battle ensues but I don't quite buy it. I almost seem like they could have headed for London in the first place...

Otherwise I thought that moment also had something to say. This baby is unique and had to be saved but everyone else in that building wasn't and could be killed without remorse.

END SPOILER!

This is sad because the movie is overall well executed, interesting and adds a somewhat new take on a possible future and what we can expect then.

Strong and gripping, although not perhaps mind-blowing. Could have been more epic.
